Thoughts on the Canon 80-200/4-5.6 lens?
Hi guys,
I've read some good things about the Canon 80-200/4-5.6 lens on a couple sites, anyone here have an opinion (am I looking at the right one, ~$119)?
I'm looking for the next lens for my 20D, I have the el`cheapo 18-55mm right now. I'm looking for a good lens that will give me a little more zoom for some upcoming airshows, and maybe some bird shots (although from what I've read here, 200mm seems a bit short for that). I'd really like the 70-200 f4L but I just bought a 1966 Mustang and it needs some attention also!
How much does the image quality suffer between the 80-200 and the L series glass? Is it quite noticible? I'm guessing yes based on the prices.
Thanks for any help and/or suggestions!
Eric

As for any $119 lens, you get what you pay for. If you can afford to hold out for the 70-200/4, please do. It costs 5 times more and is 5o times better. Really.
Is there a good compromise between the L glass from Canon and the cheaper lenses? I don't want to waste money with inferior quality, but at the same time I don't want to go broke!
Thanks again,
Eric
I bought Doc's 300D from him; when he says "mint" he means it, no worries.
