Anybody know what this is? I shot it yesterday in the Sonoran Desert outside Tucson AZ.

It looks like a Black -throated Sparrow to me.
Here is what my bird book has on it.
Uniform gray-brown above and gray below. Head gray with bold white streaks; throat jet black. Tail dark and somewhat rounded, flashes white corners in flight, can be seen in Arizona around February.

Dan, the way you worded the OP made it sound like YOU thought they were the same bird...which obviously would be a hallucinatory event!
