The Malham Tree

I had a day out on a national meet with other members of the Canon Fodder Forum, and we went to Malham Cove in Yorkshire. Landscapes are no my forte, but the limestone pavement above Malham led to some opportunities. Instead of the standard eye view of the lone tree in the limestone, I went for the abstract vision and set the image at an angle, using the right hand branch to create the vertical and give it a different feel. Shot in RAW and JPG black and white.

Hi Paul and it's great to see you trying new things! The perspective is definitely one of the first things I notice about this shot, and it creates an abstract about of something that wouldn't traditionally be abstract. I like the location and the really cool natural elements, too. Thanks for sharing and from a couple of other shots I saw here today it looks like you had a great meetup. thumb.gif

    Thanks Schmoo.

Landscape is a challenge for me, I tend to work my way into Goldenorfe's board (and Skippy before him) doing macro stuff.

I suppose I like to think out of the box sometime, and this one of those occasions.

    Paul.
