Beautiful clear, cold day in Langstone Harbour. Came across this Cormorant busying itself feeding on fish as the tide came in.

It spotted a shoal of fish below and dived

Up he came with his tasty prize. Eyeballs look as if they are out on stalks:D

I had hope to catch him swallowing the fish but he turned away:cry

When he turned back, all that he showed was a large lump in the throat.

Hope you like the images. Comments are welcome as usual and thanks for looking.

Good behavorial set and I like how the subject's eyes stand out in the captures.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Yep, like Harry says, cool behavioral sequence. They are good anglers for sure!

Thanks for your kind comments Harry, Alex and Stephen. We are still in amongst the autumn/winter storms blown in from the Atlantic. This day was very special - it was my birthday (but don't askrolleyes1.gifD) and it was sunny although cold. Perfect conditions to go out.

The Cormorants in the harbour usually fish in the middle of the harbour, out of sight and impractical to photograph except with a digiscope. This added to the pleasure. Yesterday was a washout and it looks like the same for the coming weekend:cry.

Lol. I think you could come up with some creative crops of those pics seeing as how the birds dont take up much of the frame. Just and idea.

Glad you liked them (the photos I mean:D). I enjoyed the chance to see the action at close quarters. I think it knew it was my birthday and gave me a treat:D.

Thanks for your comments - I would be interested in your suggestions.
I have tried to keep the reflections with the bird as this, in my opinion, adds to the interest.
