I really like this. only the tags and the red light on the left hand side distract me. Really like this idea. Not sure for the title. Maybe Glow?

I think I must be missing the point on this one entirely - how is it "Paper or Plastic"? headscratch.gif

    Thanks, Aspecto and Nightpixels!

They are plastic lights. But if that is not obvious to you, it may not be obvious to the judges either. Thanks, Diva!

It was pretty obvious to me because I reached out inside my computer monitor and touched them mwink.gif

    A couple more
I have not had much luck cloning out the tags in the first one. And the lights are up now, so I would have to reshoot in situ.

So here is a variation on the first.

    Christmas Glow

    And a new idea.

Bow doesn't really work for me, the Glow one is better, but i feel like it's still missing some "wow" factor, but I think you can def do something in this direction.

    New Idea
Maybe this one is more on theme. I'm not sure I'm satisfied with it yet. What do you think - like the PP? Any compositional critiques?

#1 is very nice, but I don't like the thing on the left

    - You may be able to take it again with some more paper things in it...

Ok for me the ones with the cute kitty don't work for "paper or plastic" because he/she is the center of attention and is neither paper or plastic.

I think the one with the toy car might work--but it has a weird haze over it and again is the toy car the subject (because it's plastic) but your title is "wrap it up" do you mean the wrapping paper? If so, you might want to make the paper a little more obvious.

I like the giftwrap idea for paper though.

As an image, I like the original blue lights the best but I think in "Christmas Glow" (the one with orange and green lights), it is more obvious that they are plastic ... and it is a good picture too.

Thanks for the comment, Tatiana! The thing on the left is the wrapping paper roll. I cropped it out. Is there enough context?

    735764223_DKach-L.jpg

Thanks, Liz! Yeah, the goofy cat pictures are a bit of a stretch. The wierd haze was my really cool PP. :D

Here is another take on the car shot in the morning sunlight instead of the lights of the tree last night. What do you think?

    735754409_jScUK-L.jpg

    Thanks, Nightpixels!

I had another shot very similar to the orange and green that was blue and green.

    735761421_wuwF5-L.jpg

I PP'ed it to be all blue. Does either of these work better?

The cat is so cute, but there is not enough paper in the photo rolleyes1.gif

Now, I like the truck more - maybe you can add a cardboard box (or similar) in the background...

The green and blue bulbs are very nice but are they plastic? - In my opinion they can be matte glass...

i love the cat shot, but it doesn't really convey paper or plastic to me. the plastic toy car is okay, but the focus seems a little soft on the car and more focused on the paper roll, which detracts from the comp a little. i like the concept though. i still like the plastic lights the best, and i tend to favor the blue one, although both versions are quite nice. good luck!

The lights actually look plastic in the color shot. I like the softness.
The bow and toy don't do anything for me.

I like the kitty shots, but they say 'kitty' rather than 'paper or plastic'.

I like the rolls of paper the most so far, especially the one where you don't see the carpet (#1), I like the comp and the tight shot--I think that's a good one to work with. I'm surprised no one has gone that route yet with the holidays being around the corner etc. You better stake your claim quick!

Thanks, NightPixels, dls, TinaMarie, Liz, Tatiana, and AndMan! I really appreciate all of the feedback!

I may end up going with the lights. It looks like some other folks are coming up with more paper ideas.

Here are a couple more takes on the toy shot. I added the box that Tatiana suggested.

Personally, I like the box idea and the fact that you covered the furniture in the background in #1

However I like better the position of the car and the opened box in #2

What I don't like is the kind of glossy box with flowers on it - it doesn't match the truck - just my opinion.

Not that you need another opinion here, but I like 'christmas glow' and the rolls of paper, although I agree that the carpet doesn't really fit. Do you have any hardwood floors or a wooden table or even a giant cutting board to use instead? The wood might create a warmer feel. Those two seem to be the strongest ideas in my opinion.

Thanks, Tatiana! This particular box was the right size So this gives me a chance to play with textures. Woohoo! :D And I can work on the BG a bit, too. Maybe a closer crop is the way to go.

Thanks, Kinkajou! The more, the merrier! I will try the rolls on a wooden surface. I have one with a mirror behind it that gets the morning sun.
