Was working on a website project and the client needed a headshot for his bio page. Front yard studio to the rescue!
EXIF: D700, 70-200mm, 69" & 39" Elinchrom Octa's on BXRi 500's. Shot around dusk in the front yard, no backdrop.

I'm not sure if this one strictly speaking counts as "corporate" as it was done for a writer/lecturer (:D), but it's not fashion/personal/theatrical, either

I feel I can speak with some authority here and say that definitely makes it NOT a "corporate" shot!!!!!!!!!! No fair, Nik - theatrical shots are generally the antithesis of corporate/professional headshots unless the actor/performer is specifically going for thelawyer/corporate look. Which opera singers generally don't
I love 4 JL and 6 LM from that set, Nik -nice. (Although that said - is 6 LM an actor shot? He has that look to him.....)
Believe it or not, it *was* a corporate shots session. Just not attorneys, or CFOs, or real estate agents, but a Music Department of the local university.
All the people are the professors *and* practicing musicians, performers, composers, conductors, etc. Hence not necessarily a typical used car salesman look:-)
With all due respect, that's still not "corporate", although yeah, I take your point - it wasn't being used as a performer-submission headshot. (I do stand by my original comment since you didn't say it was for something OTHER than opera-singer-headshot purposes, but I do take your point )
All this actually DOES beg a good question, though, which is how much the intent of the shot affects the choices made in creating it (clothing, makeup, background, choice of lighting etc etc). Also, what DOES define "corporate"? Is it only the use, or also the assumed style to which it will conform?
Thanks Josh. The first 2 women were shot with "butterfly" set up (beauty dish above, reflector below). #2, Large softbox CR (key), med. softbox CL 1/2 of key, additional light on bg behind subject.
#4, gridded strip light CR 1/3rd power to key large softbox CL. #5 is the reverse of #4 with bg light. #6 is one shoot thru umbrella (small with 580EXII speedlight) CL, shot outdoors on a loading dock using bg on lot.
#7, 3 speedlights with small modifiers....key CL, high, one on floor pointing up for bg and CR fill.
I have this cool program to create diagrams but thought to just explain it.
