I was up in the bitter cold climbing for a few days. There's a 5 thousand foot climb straight up from the Hwy to the high country. Anyhow, saw this cool tree along the way.
1. Frozen Tree
2. Camp and the moonlight (awesome moon!)
3. One of the lower Chiwaukum peaks at night.
4. Moon over some frozen Larches.
5. It was a good night to be out
6. Some more daylight and ski stuff when my fingers thaw!

I've always wanted to camp out in the winter after hiking through the snow. You'd thinking living in ND I would of done that once or twice. Now my body cringes at the thought

This weekend I got my Nikon down below 0, and wind chills don't really matter on something like a camera, but the wind was blowing up to 50 at times. The camera itself was crusted in ice (wish I had a picture of that!) and it worked fine. For the D700 this was the coldest I have taken it...since I bought it this summer (3 days in temps of 15 to below 0 without warming up in that time). The D200 never had issues and it appears the D700 is the same.
