DID not know if this has been posted already or not but very much worth a look.......
"If you sell yourself cheap, you will never get out of that hole."
Since there has been so much discussion on pricing, I thought this might be of help.

BTW, I make the bulk of my living as a writer - or at least I have until very recently. As a writer I deal with the same issues every day - who owns what copyright or which license for use. My invoices are very specific about what rights a publication has to an article.
Many magazines are still paying the same per word rate today as they were paying 10 or more years ago. Some are demanding more for less (surprise). I have learned that it's just as easy to be an idle fool as a busy one so I will no longer work for nothing. If someone doesn't want to pay me a decent rate for my talents and skills, I'll amuse myself writing or making images that please me and work at a coffee shop if necessary to pay my bills.

Thank YOU......I try to help when I can.
Actually I have heard thru a grapevine that a lot of mags are still trying to pay 1950's "wages" for text and even photos......especially to freelancers........it is terrible......:cry
Good stuff.
