Over 5 MB and not loading

I tried to upload photos of just over 5 MB. (JPEG) with the standard loader. The small grey bar runs from left to right just as the normal start but in stead of the green bars which should appear after the grey one the progress stops and shows the start of the uploader again. No photos showing whatsoever.
I cleared everything, which means cache, temp and prefetch which I was supposed to do somewhere-else when there were problems, I restarted and switched over to another (Internet) provider but all the same. What can be wrong??
