Uploading: Read timed out

I have attempted to upload 74 pictures to a new gallery using the default Drag'N'Drop uploader and I am getting the error mentioned in the title of this post. Some of the pictures will upload, but then some of those will be duplicates.
My largest image is ~3.5 MB, so sizing should not be an issue since I have a Power account.
I have had this same issue several times in the past and ended up trying the upload a couple days later with no issues. Any idea why this is happening?
