LR2 Plugin and Remove Copies

I had a series of photos loaded into a series of galleries that were named based on the date of the event. My daughter's school wanted me to cherrypick some of the best across the galleries. So I ended up loadedin the same photo into another gallery. When I either did this load, or the reload in which I specified deleting the prior copy, the version in the by-date gallery disappeared.

Is this a known issue with one of these two steps that I should avoid using the delete prior version option? The net is that most of my by-date galleries are missing a couple of the best images.

Thanks,
- Andrew

The Smugmug plugin for Lightroom only stores the last (most recent) location of any file you upload. Therefore, if you "Delete originals", it will delete the image at that location prior to uploading your new image, even if the new image is going to a new location.

I would think it's main use would be for re-uploading corrections en-masse rather than normal uploading. For me, I have it turned off, and my images happily stay in multiple galleries, with the caveat that Lightroom only knows about the image in the last location.

    Hope that helps!

That seems to fit the profile of what happened. Thankfully, I only need to fix about 10 galleries....

Good info. While I use the LR2 Smugmug plugin occasionally, I have found Star*Explorer a better, more controllable tool for most upload tasks. I hope the LR2 plugin offers more in the future.
