Wild black-tailed jackrabbit

The day was rainy at Joshua Tree N.P and light was low. There was nobody on the trail I was in and suddenly this rabbit came out in the open and started munching on something.

Luckily I was hiking with my tripod and had the 80-400VR with me. I quietly at on a rock about 30ft (10m) from him and switched lenses. The guy barely moved from the spot for over 10 minutes. Did a lot of shots but they were all the same basic poses as he did not move much.

I thanked him for the time and went on my way.

All shot with D300+80-400VR at 240mm - ISO 320

Very nice sharp capture and good composition. But it is a Desert Cottontail. Very nice fuzzy one too. Nice of him to be such a good model. Hope you left him a little trail mix.:D

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
