Counting Stats

I don't understand how the stats are counted for hits on various photos. When I look at the stats some of my photos show they've had zero hits when I KNOW for a fact that people have clicked on them???? Why would that be? Also, When I'm logged in and clicking on various photos are those clicks counted as hits on the photos or is it just "visitor" hits that are recorded? Also what does the "ratio" number represent? Thanks for helping a novice. Andrea
