ignore filename for keywords

How can I have smugmug ignore the filename as a keyword?

I have a bunch of files where were names with timestamps_imagename (like: 0911311824_40D12345.jpg). Now I have 0911311824 (the timestamp) and 40D12345 (the image name) as the keywords.

After having 1000+ images like this uploaded, it is a pain to remove these keywords manually.

HELP!

New feature added last week... on your control panel, settings tab, disable filename keywording.

I wonder why it still hasn't been announced in the release notes?

Because there's a bunch of other keyword stuff related, and it'll all go in one note this week.

Denise, thanks but how can I fix those that I've uploaded already?

Andy, maybe there should be micro updates posted to the blog? Can that be possible? And maybe a weekly newsletter update.

I'm afraid, the setting can't be applied to existing photos as far as I know. You would have to use the caption / keyword tool from the Tools button to remove any existing keywords for galleries in bulk.

Apart from the blog, we also use Twitter. We usually update the release notes blog as soon as possible. Sorry for any inconvenience due to the delayed update.

As excited as I am to FINALLY have a fix for SM not messing with my keywords, the setting appears to not be persistent. I've set it 3 times now and it just doesn't stick.

The Settings tab on the Control Panel doesn't have any sort of "save" option so I expect it should just "take" when I set it to disable.

    So close :nah

Thanks. I've tried disabling it from both IE8 (64-bit Vista) and FF3.5 (Mac).

There is still a bug in the keyword tool. Commas are still not being added automatically when keywords are added in bulk.

If we need commas between keywords, you need to put them there when we add keywords. Yes, it does work if I add the comma myself in the bulk tool. But it seems a little ridiculous to have to do that.

What's great though is that it seems we can now add multiple keywords simultaneously by putting commas between them in the bulk tool. clap.gif
