I am still new to the challenges....my first MC! Does this idea work? Does the PP work? I was trying to light it warmly to create a safe environment for "Grieving".

Note: I added a B&W version below and two photos from a second idea.

#2
I used a more complementary room color and a different crop. Does the un-noisy picture frame in the bkgd add anything?

Thanks for your feedback.

    Powerful photo!

I like the first better, both in crop and color. I am not sure about the PP. It makes it a bit grainy. With the grain, B&W might work better.

I haven't made it to a mega yet, so take this with a grain of salt. :D

WhatSheSaw and PyroPrints... thanks for the feedback.

I used a lot of noise because the shiny textures of the flag and picture frame were too perky for the theme. Maybe I'll experiment with a different frame.

    #2 imho.

#1 is too grainy for my taste and you can see a ghost star showing through which is distracting for me.

AndMan- I agree about the star. I had cloned it out, but posted the wrong one.

    Photo-bug- thanks for commenting.

Do any of you have suggestions for improvement.... composition-wise?

I have been coming back to this. I feel like the color version is not working with this particular image, especially with all the noise that you have added. Do you have other ideas for MC#6?

I also have kept coming back to look at these. I love the composition. It tells a very powerful story and I really love that. I just don't care for the grainy-ness. That's the only drawback to me.

MC6- new version and second idea
Allen, I appreciate the feedback. I have a B&W of this without the grain that I will post here. I do like the idea that I am working with and would like to continue to use it to explore better lighting. I am very new at this and try to use each challenge to learn something new.

I am working on a second idea and will post it below.

I have a thick skin and am very much a student, so fire away!

    I appreciate everyone's comments.

    Sherry,

thanks for you thoughts. would take a look at the B&W and let me know what you think?

I'll work on a different color version that has the right textures to leave out the grain.

I think the B&W of your first idea would work better with the grain. And I think it is a much stronger image than the fisherman.

I vote BW without the grain. Or if there must be grain, than less than what you had originally used. Nice shot.
