Good Evening Folks,
I'll be getting another camera, hopefully before the end of the year to use for my 'hobby' :wink What I am looking for is fast, accurate af in low light situations, as well as, very low noise at iso 3200, for up to 16'' x 20'' prints. I was leaning towards a 1DMK3, but if the 1DMK2n will handle my needs, then I'll buy one of those and put the $1,000.00 + savings towards some fast glass. I'm not concerned with the MP race or fps since I don't shoot sports. As usual, thanks for looking, and any help is greatly appreciated :thumb
Have a good evening :D
Jim...

1D2 ... looking at your glass you'll need the help upgrading it all to full frame, since you won't want to use non-1D once you have it from what I hear...

Good Evening, and thank you for your suggestion thumb.gif
I do have another Tamron (24-135) that I can use if necessary, although neither camera is ff. My 10-22 will also work, since I modified it to use on a 5d last year. Thanks again.
    Have a good evening :D

Hi Jim, if ISO 3200 "and" 16" x 20" are the requirements, the Canon 1D MKIII is an easy choice.

I have 2 of the 1D MKII and it is the same imager as the 1D MKIIN, and it struggles at ISO 3200. A very large print would probably not work at that sensitivity.

The 1D MKIII has at least a 2/3rd stop more sensitivity than the above camera and more DR as well. The result is a much more pleasing high ISO capability. If you also use Photoshop and Neat Image, you can also get FlexNR to produce a demonstrably better ISO 3200 and 6400.

(Not my image, but SmugMugger "emotion "):

ISO 6400 crop processed with FlexNR and exposure recovery (to simulate ISO 12,800)

Good Evening Ziggy, and thank you for your response thumb.gif
It looks like I'll be getting the MK3, hopefully, in the next 3 weeks. I was leaning towards that model originally, but wondered about the MK2n, and the iq at the high iso's. Thanks again.
    Have a good evening :D

    I'll agree with Ziggy,

In todays fast changing camera upgrade world, the 1DMIIN isn't considered very good for ISO3200, especially for that size prints. Of the two listed, I'd go for the 1DIII.

You might also check out this noise reduction software that a fella developed exclusively for the 1DIII. The samples shown in this thread are very impressive.

    Anyway, have fun!

    Morning Randy,
Thanks for your input and the link thumb.gif I have always had good results using Neat Image with my 40D at iso 3200. It might be time to upgrade my software mwink.gif Thanks again.
    Have a good day :D
