Got to shoot for some friends a while back and I thought I would share a coupel of he better shots. Ching Dul is the name of the group and the were performing inside a temple here in Kyoto. Happens a bit around town, but not at the place we were at, so I was quite happy to be able to not only see the show, but also take all the pictures I wanted. Fun stuff, and always a great show!

Very nice series. I like the first two very much. The angles seem just right; the lighting in the first is great, and the b/w is perfect for the second. The third is just not a great angle IMO. You can just bare see the stick (no idea what the proper term for a Taiko drumstick is), which makes the image lose a lot of its energy and context. It took a second look for me to know that the person was striking the drum, and not adjusting it.

    Nice work!

    Hey Andrew,

Thanks a bunch for checking out the photos and the nice comments. I am glad that you really liked the first two, and now that you mention it, I understand what you mean about the last one. I have been over here a while and for me it is easy to understand what is going on, but for someone who may not have seen much of this kind of music I can see that it might be a little unclear.

Thanks for that, make sure I keep that in mind for the future =)

    Cheers!

    very dark
Ya, it was very dark in there, and I couldn't move around at all. I use a Nikon D200 for now (hope to buy a D300s soon). Not sure what the ISO was, but I tried to keep it as low as possible.

There are lots more in the gallery on my site, in music =)

    Cheers!
