... bought out some hoverflies and flies yesterday feeding on sugar/honey/spirullina spray on a camelia bush. 4 species of hoverfly and one fly. Makes a change to shoot something a bit bigger .
All 5Dmk2/MPE-65/430Ex flash- mainly single shots.

very nice images. I had never heard of spirullina. Doe it have an odor that attracts bugs?

Paddler. Don't think the spirullina algae powder is essential - I happen to have some because I use it sometimes in koi (carp) food mix I make up to help maintain their colours (it's full of carotenes). Just thought maybe I should supply a little bit of protein along with all the sugar - It does smell slightly and any flying bugs around certainly seem to find it quickly
