New Jersey to Louisiana

I will be driving to Baton Rouge from north New Jersey over the Christmas holiday. Fortunately, I will have 5 days to get down there & 3 to get back. As such, I was looking to make some stops for photo ops, mostly on the way down. I’ve been a dedicated amateur for the last 40 years & mostly like doing a wide variety of pics, mostly on this trip was thinking of possible wildlife/birds, landscapes, farms, Christmas decorated town centers, churches, etc.

Which brings me to my purpose of this post. I am looking for suggestions of photo ops either down the eastern seaboard, or through KY, TN, GA, AL, MS.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve had to make the trip the last two years, both times on a shorter time frame. One year I did get to do some of the Blue Ridge Parkway & last year stopped by several National Wildlife Reserves with mixed results—except for Chincoteague—WOW. As such, this year I’ve been trying to doing even more research before I go (searching smugmug & naturescape) & thought I would also try to reach out to some local photographers for some suggestions

Some of the places I’ve added to my list of possibilities are:
Chincoteague (high on list)
Assateague (high on list)

Cape Lookout National Seashore
Harkers Island
Tybee Island
Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge
Tallulah Gorge State Park
Cades Cove
South Mountains State Park
Blackwater Falls State Park
