Ok I did away with the widow shots because there is already one in the gallery "Grieving" which rocks!
I reworked my original "Senorita" shot and tried to go for an old timey feel.
1.
or this version
2.
This another one I shot over the weekend.
"Beauty?"
3.
and another from that same day--don't know if "Beauty?" is still the title for this one---a little help with this title.
4.
By the way to all the people who helped me with my original post--I tried the candle idea (Halite thank you) but decided not to go with grieving like I said earlier, so I abandoned that idea.
I also tried to reshoot with different lighting (Nightpixels) and maybe I'm still too green, but it came out worse!. Didn't help that the day I reshot my sister had strepp throat--neither one of us was feeling it.
I can't reshoot at all anymore, so if any of the above work please let me know which one.
Thanks everyone.

For me its between 1 & 2. I can see where you are going with the others but they're not working for me.
IMHO both 1 & 2 could do with a bit of space above the top of your sister's head, not much but a tad, at the moment I almost feel myself ducking on her behalf.
I really like the colours in #2 but find the small section of her arm showing on the right to be distracting as it draws my eye. This isn't a problem in #1 as the darker treatment means it doesn't stand out.
On the whole I would probably go with #1, I like the treatment & I think it works well with the image.

My thoughts:
1. Excellent. I would experiment with texture or grain to give it an antique look.
4. I really like this shot. I would call it "Vanity"
Your model is beautiful.

Thanks for your comments.
Unfortunately I can't add more space as I shot it too tight:( I am forever doing this and inevitably will say to myself "wish I had shot wider" -- bad habit I have.
I love #1 myself, was going for something like what I imagined my grandmother or greatgrandmother looked like at that age, with the sepia treated effect for good measure.
So far it's in between #1 and #4. Might go with #4 as there is already a beautiful portrait in the gallery "Sublime". Plus 4 has some humor.

Dan,
If I could add textures (believe me it was my first thought to complete the vintage look) I would--long story short, don't have photoshop. But if I could swing the textures than this would be THE one.
I'm starting to lean to #4 and if that's what I go with I will definately use your title , you nailed what I was going for.
Thanks Dan.

Funny, I did #2 on flickr and I can't remember how on earth I got to that, don't recall the steps--tried to duplicate it and can't and I can only make it so big--this was XXL and look how little it came out. In all honesty though I like the old look better.
Thank you for taking the time to comment.

Thanks Tatiana,
Looks like I will go with #4, it's a little different so that's probably a good thing and I hope it has some humor.

Yes, #4 is different and I would go with that too

#3 is funny - she has a wierd expression.
Different is good and #4 probably as a broader appeal than #3.
I decided to do just that. It's in there now.
Thanks Tatiana.

Hello Whatshesaw,
I wanted to put #1 in the gallery from the get go, I just felt like it really needed some texturizing to make it look like an old worn photo.
#3 is funny:) glad you like it--but I missed it, it's soft and I think I would lose right there.
So I went with #4. I don't know if it's considered a portrait or not, but I figure it's a little different. I like the title Dan gave it too.
Thanks for commenting.
