One from a recent visit to Northern AZ

I had a pass to the Wave but had 12" snow and got shut out.

Spent the day at the Upper Antelope slot canyon instead.

Comments, criticisms, suggestions for improvement welcomed.

I love this and think it's a great capture.

I have got to make it up there sometime.

beautiful shot. I had to look at it for a minute before figuring out what it was!
Canon 7D and some stuff that sticks on the end of it.

Just a few - maybe saw 5-6 others during my 2 1/2 hours in Upper Antelope.

December and January are pretty cold there, and so the crowds are gone. I had the good fortune to be there on the day after a heavy snowfall, and so there were likely even fewer people than normal.

There aren't any of the famous light beams this time of year, however.

This is great for one reason:

The fact that it is a view of a very, very photographed subject, with a composition that is new and uncommonly seen. Too many go there for the light beams/shafts. They are great shots, but it is the same thing over and over. This is something new, and the composition with the converging lines and light are awesome. Wonderful shot. And like it was said, I would print this and hang it on a wall. Perfect timing, and way to think outside the box for a uncommonly seen composition.

Thanks all for the positive feedback.

Andrew - I especially appreciate your thoughts. I went in with the specific goal of coming out with a photo that I hadn't seen before, which can be tough at a place like this.

On the other hand I went to Horseshoe Bend with the same goal, but you won't find that photo posted...rolleyes1.gif

having been to Antelope Canyon myself, i can appreciate this shot... it really is an interesting and unique composition. seems to me the magentas are just a teensy bit overdone, but aside from that, i love it. i confess, i'm guilty of capturing the "sunbeam shot", but that canyon is such an amazing place, with so many potential compositions... i really want to go back one day and shoot it again...

Nice capture. That is the right attitude: to try for the unusual, seeing an iconic subject in your own novel way. Nice lighting and layers.
