Headshot setup test

Not terribly exciting but I was testing out a headshot setup and didn't have a model so it ended up being a self portrait.

Strobist: 430EXII through a small brolly at 1/16th above and SB24 at 1/4 shooting up behind onto the black background.

Canon 30D loaded with 17-40 f4 L
f14 ISO100 1/250th at 23mm.

Levelled in ACR, imported into CS3.
I tidied up the worst of my skin a bit with the clone tool before giving it a gentle dose of my high pass skin process.
Brightened up the eyes and catchlights with a little dodging and burning.
Final curves layers and background tidy-up with a selective gaussian blur.
Flattened and uploaded.

Very cool shot I'm not sure about the light on the background. I like it, I think I would have liked it a bit higher. The way it's positioned now seems to emphasize your neck more than your face. I like the black bg with the black shirt

Yeah good shout, Ivar.
I'll bear that in mind for the next set.
One of my friend's bands need headshots done for a promotional DVD they're putting together so I'll get a bit more of a chance to play around with the background light.
