domain forwarding

My smug was set up with custom URL www.halfpintprints.com. Over the weekend I changed everything to www.stephenskoutas.com.

Both domains are with GoDaddy.

I set forwarding for halfpintprints.com to be forwarded to stephenskoutas.com. I am getting some odd results.

In firefox, it is only working without the "www."

• www.halfpintprints.com goes to the Smugmug "You look better here" page.
• halfpintprints.com forwards correctly to www.stephenskoutas.com.

In Chrome, it seems to work with or without the "www." Same thing with IE on my computer, but not on a different computer.

a.) does www.halfpintprints.com forward for you?
b.) do you know what setting I should be looking at in GoDaddy? I set the A host > @ to 64.202.189.170 and the CNAME for www to @. These are the settings that are working for me for two other domains that are successfully forwarding (skoutasphotography.com and skoutas.us).

now (5 minutes later), my office Firefox is letting www.halfpintprints.com correctly forward to www.stephenskoutas.com. I remotely logged on to my home computer (a Mac) and it will NOT let www.halfpintprints.com forward using either Safari or FF.

So confused. Please let me know what you're seeing and if anyone has a GoDaddy setting suggestion. Thanks again.

Change the www CNAME to @ for the old domain. That one should forward to the new domain.

Make sure that the new one is set with www CNAME to domains.smugmug.com and the @ A record is pointed at 208.79.45.23

If you need more help send me the GoDaddy logins at the help desk. I can check it.

Be sure to allow time for the changes to update as it can take a little while.

All of those settings look like what I have. What do you get when you go to www.halfpintprints.com? I will send you the loging for GoDaddy, and thank you very much.

I am immediately forwarded to http://www.stephenskoutas.com/

It may be that your macs local DNS has not updated yet. It does take time.

Thank you. It was the inconsistency that I found so confusing. One computer did forward, another did not, my iPhone wouldn't forward, etc.

FWIW, it works for me too in IE and FF. I'll be making a similar change in the next month so using this thread as reference.
