Read refers to the number of times the photo in the share email was viewed by the recipient(s). Clicked refers to the number of times the recipient(s) clicked through to the gallery from the email to see more photos.
Read can be lower than clicked - that's due to the nature of many email clients and services - they don't display photos by default for privacy issues unless the user chooses to have have the photo displayed.

Sebastian: Can you explain how the reverse can be true...where Read is zero and Clicked is one (see attached). I know the recipient saw the gallery because I got an email from them commenting on specific content. How can they do that without logging a Read event?

I explained just that in my last reply:

If they don't choose to view the photo in the email and only click on the link to go to the gallery, just that happens.

Thank you for you very helpful responses, Sebastian. Your expertise is greatly appreciated!
If the recipient forwards the share mail and others open it will those also be counted? I have a few emails that have been opened over 40 times.
Yes. What happens is that the images and links in each email have a special code that is associated with the recipient. If the original recipient forwards the message, then the people who receive the forwarded message will be counted under the original recipient.
Invitations to view photos you've sent:
When I review my sent Share Emails, I'd appreciate if clicking on the picture/sent email would take me to the gallery that was shared.
Currently, clicking on the picture/sent email sends me to the original gallery that the picture was uploaded, and not the "shared gallery" where I created a virtual copy. It'd be very helpful to be able to link to the "Shared Gallery" (regardless of whether the pictures are a "virtual copy" or were originally uploaded there).
Hmmm...this sounds like a bug created from when they added the 'virtual galleries' like collected photos and smart galleries. I'd file a bug report if the link in the email isn't from the virtual gallery.
