Just got back from a weekend in Death Valley, this is the first from the series. The lighting was grey and overcast with moments of light blasting through. This is one of those moments. EDIT-I named the thread before I realized I couldn't post more than one photo without a smugmug or flickr account

Looks like around Mesquite dunes. I always recommend breakfast after doing sunrise shoot, at Stovepipe wells. The skillets rule there. I stayed at the hotel in Stovepipe and was awesome to open the door and see Mesquite san dunes right there, staring at you, maybe 1-2 miles from you.
Looking forward to seeing more photos from DV.

The weather was great and allowed for time to explore some new areas of Death Valley, here is the first of those. It was nice that the sky opened up and made an interesting shape loosely mimicking the foreground
This is a 2.5 second shot before the just before sunrise. The camera just picks up this nice soft warm light over the dunes but hasnt quite reached the Mtns and Sky in the background. What do you think?
I'm not usually a big dead wood fan, but I really like these shapes and textures
