I finally finally finally finally bought a Gitzo tripod. yaaaaaah!!!!!:barb

Anyway, in the packing there was a keychain looking thing, rubbery with the Gitzo name on it, also attached was a looped rubberbandy string....

What the heck is this for?

I ask because when I bought my first DSLR I threw away the viewfinder blind cover. :rofl

I think it's just a luggage tag. Anyone know for sure?

I believe it's just a luggage tag/free advertising for them. I used to get stuff like that all the time with my paintball stuff. Dye (a high end paintball company) always has the tags on their clothing/accessories as stickers on the front and then the tag on the cardboard backing.

Is the back of that tag fuzzy? I'm wondering if it's a little tool to wipe dirt out of the lock collar threads before you grease them.

I'm not really buying the luggage tag idea. It looks too well made for that. Plus nobody would use it it as it basically says "expensive stuff to steal in here".

Its a little too hardy to be wrapping around threads, I thought it would maybe be a pad to wipe the carbon fiber... and yes its like a felt-y fibercloth on the backing.

Maybe its to put on a zipper? like a backpack...

But still, like you are saying...

"hey expensive stuff to steal here"

I wouldn't want to use anything abrasive to rub on the carbon fiber parts since I'm not really into that scratched-up finish look on my tripod.

That $500-asking tag thingy looks like it can be used as a zipper pull for your jacket or tripod bag. The best thing to do is to ask Gitzo. Does your tripod come with operating instructions?

Cuong yup came with some papers and they didnt reference my luxury tag thingy.

but now that I think about it, I way under priced this...
I should be looking for $850..... after all, the string thingy is stretchy!

Does that include insured international shipping and handling? I'm sure some photography sheik from Dubai would love to add it to his collection.

Hmmm... well the Gitzo tag is way outta my price range, but how much are you asking for the quater? That looks like one fine quarter! :D

pricing the quarter is a bit more tricky, If I were to follow my current Stock purchasing habbits then the quarter would sell for .15 because I paid .35 for it...
