    Congratulations Paul!

I was honored to play with the 'big kids' in my first Mega.

I'm curious.... there were 22 entries, but only 17 in the list above. What happened to them? (If this is a really stupid question....someone clue me in.)

Never having taken part in a Mega challenge before, it would be interesting to know where I lost points. Do the judges do that at all?

I've got to say, I'm seriously chuffed to have placed in the top 5 in my first go at a MC. Maybe I should only take shots when I'm sick. headscratch.gifeek7.gif

Congrats Paul. Excellent and elegant image!

Was so engrossed in checking my math last night, I forgot to post comments I received from one of the judges.
I liked "love". To me, it's the perfect word for that photo. Lighting and composition go a long way for this photo. The same is true for "grieving".

When I think of "delicious", something edible usually comes to mind and the tight crop on two classically delicious items sell this shot big time.

A wooden boat is almost synonymous with boathouses.

Now I'm looking at seduction and I get it. Candles, roses and the hint of what's to come make this work.

No, because it isn't a matter of "losing" points. thumb.gif Remember, the Megas are judged by a panel of five who list their top ten in rank order. Whichever shot a judge chooses as their number 1 receives 10 points, number 2 receives 9 points, and so on. Those points are then totaled from all judges, averaging things out.

As a reminder, this is all detailed in the challenge rules as well.

Since there were 22 entries and each judge chooses only a top ten, it's possible for some images not to be selected, just as it's possible for some images to be selected by multiple judges. See the response above for the full breakdown. thumb.gif

    What the WHAT! wings.gif

I am truly and deeply honored…Thank you!

Congratulations to everyone who participated. We all pour so much of ourselves into our photographs! I am constantly inspired by the amazing talent, craftsmanship and vision that infuse each image.

I feel so fortunate to call Smugmug and Dgrin my photographic “Home”. The genuine warmth and support of the people here make this a uniquely wonderful place to share and grow as a photographer. iloveyou.gif

Thank you to Marc Muench, DoctorIt, ian408, Agnieszka and Llywellyn for taking time judge - never an easy task. I’d especially like to thank Kerry for donating her time and talent to us in this forum. We are much the richer for her leadership.

Speaking of leadership…As is so often the case, the tone of an organization is set by the folks at the top. The MacAskill’s passion for photography reflects throughout both Smugmug and Dgrin.

And a HUGE THANK YOU to Bay Photo and Lensbaby (and of course Smugmug) for their generosity!! thumb.gif
