Angel of Grief

One of my favourite all time sculptures, called the Angel of Grief.
You can read about it here.

The sun was very very bright, and I probably should have used the flash to fill in and eliminate the shadows. But I did not have it with me, and now I have a reason to go back since the shadows were just horrific.
I'm thinking about doing it at dusk and using a tripod.

I was also experimenting with different processing... not sure which one I like best.

Couldn't resist having my car in one of the shots.

wonderful series. I think #5 works best of all the angel shots.

    Thank you Andrew.
I also tend to lean towards number 5, but I also like the slightly colour/sepia based number 1.

#1 was my wow out the chute, just love the image overall. Then 5 just popped. That charcoal sky and contrast just works so well. The image works on two levels, one serious and another not so much. The angel herself is a powerful image and I can see why you love it so much. On a less serious note, the flowers at the base make it look like she dropped them and just put her head down like, "I can't believe I dropped the flowers..."

I'm with Andrew on these. But I'm partial to #10 as well. I love photographing headstones too. :D

1, 5 and 10 all work well for me. The blue sky ones are not nearly as moody.

I like #12 the best. It would be a slam dunk if the masking around the wing top and statue base was tighter.
    nice series!
