I re-worked this in preparation for printing, but I would like to know what you think before I place an order.

Thanks,

Dan

    Beautiful shot Dan!

I might reduce the saturation of the blues a bit, but then again it may just be my monitor.

I was thinking the same thing Mike, after I posted. Thanks; that is very helpfulthumb.gifthumb.gif

This is stunningly beautiful. I think it's my favorite shot of yours.
I have to agree with Mike about the blues, though. I'd tone them down a bit to get some more true whites and grays in that snow.
    Anyway, very nice work here!

    Great lookin' shot, Dan! thumb.gif

I see the blue cast, but it doesn't bother me. In fact I rather like it. To my eye (which I assure you is "off") I like the contrast between that and the red sandstone!

It needs to be somewhat blue because it's early morning. Like the others, maybe increase the color temp a little to make the snow a little whiter.

I agree about the blue, but don't lose too much of it as it helps with the cold feeling, IMO. I would like to see a bit more detail in the snow. Overall, I think it's definitely worth printing--and I love the title!

    Nice job, Dan!

if possible, can you bring more pastel color out in the sky? (without degrading IQ or adding noise of course)
I would mask everything so you are just working with the sky and try to bring out the color that is in there.

if it were me, I would lose some blue in the snow, and I would enhance the light hitting the rock....

I would mask everything so you are just working with the sky and try to bring out the color that is in there.

If you duplicate the layer, and set the copy to "Multiply" blending mode, then mask out everything else, you should get an instant jolt of color to the sky... will probably be WAY too much, but you can dial it down by lowering the opacity of the layer...

Just a thought since Aaron brought it up... That method has worked for me a number of times! thumb.gif

Dan... I just wanted to say it's a gorgeous shot! I detect a hint of too much magenta, but I'm overly sensitive to it, so don't change anything based on my opinion! I bet it's going to look awesome as a print.

having seen the Mittens in morning light, it seems the reds aren't quite as deep and vibrant as they should be. the blue tint is a little too much, but a little tweaking of color balance should help that. otherwise, and excellent photo... Monument Valley is just an incredibly scenic place, no matter what time of year!

Thanks everyone for your generous replies. I have tweaked this a tad by desaturating some of the blue. I may still play with this a bit more when I get home later today. thumb.gifthumb.gif

I would say test print #2 & #3 before going large.

I prefer #2 on my monitor, but #3 is brighter and may print nicer....

Gorgeous, Dan! This is a wonderful scene that is just made even more awesome by the unusual weather conditions.

I was going to make the same comment about the blues, but you've already got a handle on it. thumb.gif

There seems to be a lot of unfulfilled potential in the sky in your image begging to be drawn out.

I'm no expert but does this add anything? ne_nau.gif

as already noted my suggestions would be to decrease the blues in the foreground and boost the sat/contrast in the sky. you could do both with layer masks and the graduated filter opacity so it blends.

It's a 20 X 30 on the new thin metal high glossy mounts. It just arrived, and I must say it is perfect in terms of calibration. I love this product. Check it out deal.gif

I honestly tried Awais, but the picture of the picture doesn't do it justice, and I'm too lazy to work the lighting and set up a tripod. Trust me though, it looks just like #3 at the beginning of this thread. No frame, just a 1/8" thick piece of metal floating on a wall. Everyone should buy a small one just to see how good this product really is.

    Thanks for askingthumb.gif

That's magnificent, Dan. Awesome shot, and the new processing looks wonderful. Congratulations on that, as well as the gallery showing. bowdown.gifbowdown.gifbowdown.gif

I too would LOVE to see the metal print.
