Question #1. I haven't been on the forums as regularly lately, and have done some combing around to try to catch up on what I've missed as far as bug fixes, updates, new tools, etc. But it's pretty tricky trying to find out what all the latest keywording methodology is. I've added some photos & tried some keywording, but it's not been very evident to me what is working and what is not. I'm quite confused about present keywording as it pertains to: numbers, symbols in other languages, commas, quotation marks, hyphens, phrases containing 2 or more words, etc. etc. WHERE can I go to find all the current keywording methods, updated, in one place?? Please tell me there's such a place-- I hope & pray. Thank you.
Question #2. I would like to hear that there is an understanding that there are many folks here who are going to want to keep some of their former numerical keywords and that just because many folks were unhappy with automatic file-name & number-generated keywords, does not mean that they never want a numerical keyword again, or that they don't want to keep some of their numerical keywords from old files!! So far, I'm not hearing this understanding expressed. So my question is-- IS there this understanding by SmugMug Admins? If so, is there someplace I can see these concerns being addressed and learn how we should handle the mess we have with old file numbers present in our keywords? It's not an emergency or rush, but I'd like to know where we're at with this.
I really do not want someone else to clean it up for me, because they will have no idea which numerical keywords I want to keep & which I don't. I have years I want to keep, but not just yrs.... other numbers too. Mostly I do not want to keep old straight-from-camera file numbers. It seems we need the capability of removing old filename-generated keywords without removing years, etc. and without getting rid of our present numerical keywords that are desirable. We need ways of getting rid of this kind of thing on our own since some of it is useful while lots of it is not. If every person who keywords on here has such stuff as follows, admins can't be having to fix it all individually:

I just found a bunch more when logged in and removed them one at a time. I
cleaned all the number KW's out recently and now some show again. All these
photos were uploaded years ago, so why are the No. KW's coming back.

There is some oddness with your keywords and we really apologize about the confusion. The keyword improvements that we made recently were adjustments to make keywording more flexible to how users enter them.
Basically:
- We accept numbers of any length and they'll be indexed as you enter them
- You can enclose groups of words (terms) in quotes for them to be entered as a single unit
- 1 and 2 character English words and common words (and, of, the, etc) still are NOT indexed unless you enclose them in quotes
- We accept non-English characters and words of any length
- Apostrophes, periods, and underscores are valid characters.
- Slashes and hyphens are NOT valid characters and will be stripped from the keyword
- You can disable automatic extraction of keywords from your filenames in the Settings tab of your Control Panel
- We still do not index keywords in the common format of DSC_1110.jpg or IMG_2373.jpg, etc
The help page is in the process of being updated and pushed out, and we're sorry about the confusion in the meantime.
As for your issue with all the keywords popping up from older files, I'll need to get together with our keyword sorcerer so that he can take a closer look. Since he's on the other side of the international date line and it's a holiday week, please give us a day or two to catch up and get back to you on this. Thanks!

This is why keywords from filenames should be turned off by default. You wouldn't need to block otherwise perfectly valid keywords like "web" and one I'd like to be using, "crw."
You have a workaround for a workaround that prevents human beings from entering keywords that they might want to.
