Hi
I finally got to go to a high school basketball game. My first this season. Nice new gym with decent lights: ISO 2500, f2.8, 1/500 sec, 85mm lens 10ft back of the end line. Color is still kind of weird, but they painted their whole key a nice grass green, kind of hard to balance.
1: this shot actually went in.

2: I don't know the rules, but I'm guessing you can't do this in basketball:

3: followed by this:

as the kid in red got to shoot free throws with no one at his end of the court.

Looks like you had a good spot to shoot from. You must be kneeling or sitting. WB looks fine on my monitor. I like the first shot timing.

The second and third look like a "flagrant foul", which means intentional, maybe from behind. Foul shooter's team should have gotten the ball back after the free throws, too.

Nice job. Look forward to more from you this season.

Did you shoot these raw or jpeg, if you shot raw on this there would be some leeway to make up for the green on the floor and exposure could really boost the color

They're all jpg. I'm too lazy to deal with 700 RAW pictures. I did set a custom color when I got there, then used a photoshop action to correct them further. but the auto white balance was useless with that weirdo green floor. I get to try it again tomorrow. whoohoo.
    Thanks,

The WB looks good on the skin tones, the bleachers, and the walls of the gym. You will not be able to get rid of the green being reflected on the white underside of the uniforms and socks as the reflected light is only transmitting the green wavelength. So they are being "lit" by the floor with a green reflection and what is shown is probably accurate.
