Self portrait

A couple of my wife and I in front our or tree after coming home from our anniversary supper. These were all shot on a tripod using the self time. I had my flash hot shoe mounted pointed at us, but aimed up at about a 60 degree angle. As always, C & C is very welcome!

    The two things that strike me first about these shots is that they are a) underexposed and b) lacking contrast. You can certainly bring up the exposure a bit in Lightroom or Picassa or whatever processing software you are using. That will help extremely.

    It could be, also, that your monitor's gamma is not calibrated and these look well exposed to you. If that's the case, take a look at this page which will help you adjust your gamma. It won't help with color balance or anything but it will go a long way toward getting the brightness correct. thumb.gif

    The second problem is that they lack contrast. This is generally because there is no absolute black or white points in the photograph. Fortunately, if you have Photoshop at least, this isn't a tough thing to fix. Take a look at this tutorial and you'll be off an running.
