The extra thumb is an issue as stated. Only other thing I am seeing is DOF is a tad to shallow. Daughter's eyes are dead on but the baby seems to be slightly OOF to me. May be my crappy monitor but that is what I see here.
I for one like the DOF. The baby's eyes are not really open so focus on them is not an issue to me. The tree and lights in the background being out of focus lends to a more dreamy look to the photo, at least in my opinion.
Yeah, the extra thumb is unfortunate. That's Mom's thumb, providing the extra support for Sean (the baby) since we weren't quite confident that Erin (the 4 year old) would be able to hold him securely. Next time I'll have to try harder to get her to hide it!
As for DoF, are you talking about his eyes being out of focus, or his toes? The toes definitely are, but I think the fuzziness on his face may be coming from noise reduction. It's ISO 800 and I ran it through noise ninja before exporting. Comparing the two side-by-side in Aperture, his face seems to have suffered more in sharpness than hers did.
Here's the same photo without noise ninja:
Here are a few more from the series:
Mom with the two kids (hard to get them all looking at the camera at the same time!):

The only nit I see is the extra thumb.
Can we see more from this series?
