I have just recently recieved a Tamron 200-500 lens to use with my Sony a700. I keep hoping for a nice sunny day to shoot some pics of the Eagles in our area, but so far no luck!
Anyway, I did go out and tried on Saturday. These were all handheld.
Any comments are welcomed!!

Ron

Man, I'm envious. I haven't exactly "searched" for any eagles to photograph but I am in such awe of them I should start looking. They are incredible birds.

Thanks for sharing the great shots Ron.

At second glance, the bird's "expression" and body shape/position in 1+2 is awesome. It looks like at any second it could get up and be flying 100 MPH. Really looks like a fighter jet. Angry, majestic, ready to hunt. So very cool.

Thanks for the comments guys. I love watching Eagles. They are such majestic birds, it is no wonder that they were chosen as a symbol of the USA. They are a bird that simply demand attention!!
You should try to find some Matt. You would really enjoy it!

Matt, you also mentioned speed in your second post. I am including three more photo here. Not that they are great because they aren't. But it was not until I got home and viewed the photos on my pc that I noticed this. In this first shot, the Eagle is getting ready for a run at the river to catch a fish. Kind of like a bombing run:D .

It does not show it here, because the pics were even worse than these, but the Eagle is swooping down and did grab a fish out of the water. What I did not notice until later was the blue truck, on the freeway, in both of the next two photos. This is the freeway, so that truck is going AT LEAST 60 mph. That Eagle was moving pretty good!

You can't see it here, but the Eagle has a fish.

Those are excellent, Ront. thumb.gif They're eagles in the fog -- I can't see how you could have gotten better shots than that. The soft light really brings out the feather detail too. I had the same light a couple of days ago.

Looks like that lens is working very well for you.

Looks like you had a good shoot. They are a blast to watch fish. When they dive, or at least when they go into their version of a stoop, they easily break 100mph. Nice job.

    Thanks guys:).

Dan, we have a neighbor that trains Falcons. I have watched one of his Peregrine Falcons going into a stoop and it truly was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. I could hear that bird as it bulleted through the air. I saw a program on PBS about Falcons and they have clocked them at around 200mph while in a stoop.
