Two wonderful friends, Tina & John, delivered a healthy baby girl named Serafina just a few days ago. Two weeks ago I took a few shoots of the future parents at Tina's last stage of pregnancy.

Tina & John allowed me to swing by for a quick visit even though they just got home from the hospital. While I was there of course I had to snap a few shots of the proud but very tired parents and their precious little baby Serafina.

    Thank you,

The anxiety for the new parents must of been very high at the last few days before giving birth. I remember Tina telling me during the shoot, "I so want this baby out of me."

I think the parents will be very happy that you caught these before/after moments.

I don't like the one where she's lying down on the coach (#4). Her expression is one of confusion or pain, and the background is a bit distracting (the light on the table).

The most successful "before" photo is the first one and I know the family will cherish it.

Is there a specific reason why you went for B&W for the "before" and then switched to "color" for the after?

I pretty much like all the after photos. To nitpik, you could have moved the photo with mother/baby to a different location and found a clearer background, but with your use of DOF, it's acceptable.

    Well done!

Thank you April for your comments and critiquethumb.gif

Their one room apartment was extremely small and full of clutter with lamps everywhere. I could not find a clear angle nor get far enough away from the subject matter to avoid all the clutter so I tried to compensate by using extremely small DOF and angles that would not show so much of the cluttered space.

The B&W before pictures were suppose to help show the before life or the past while the after shots of the new life in color show a new beginning or present time.
