I thought I'd give an HDR pano a go, just to see how it turned out. The subject isn't too remarkable, but I'm pleased with the results. I used Autopano Giga to do the stitching and blending, after Photomatix for the initial processing - with PP in CS4.

    Wow!thumb.gif

Not only a Pano but some great HDR work that is not over the top, but complements the boats!

    Well done!clap.gifclap

I like the overall feel of the shot, but is it just me or are there some strange halo type thingys in the sky above the boats and the boathouse?

I love the color of the boats themselves.

Yes, I'm afraid so. I reprocessed it so the halos were removed, but it lost some of the HDR 'magic' IMHO:

Hmm, I actually prefer the first version you posted. Would there be anyway to reduce teh HDR effect only on those areas where the halos appeared? That would make so you still had that effect on the boats and water (where the majority of the effect occurred anyway) and reduce it in the sky where the halos appeared.

Try bringing the two versions in as Smart Objects in separate Layers in PSCS and see what you can do to uses masks to get a good combo!

Yes, I might try that. I did that recently with this one to get rid of the ghosting surrounding the people walking along:

    It'll be a fiddly job, though! :D

These last three images are splendid. People in motion is a killer for HDR, but it's usually possible to put one of the source frames on a layer above and use a mask to reveal the people from a single shot. It's a little laborious, but as long as you select a frame that is close to the exposure level that came out of the HDR processing in the area in question, you don't have to make the mask very precise. I usually just paint it using Quick Mask.

Thanks again for the kind comments everyone. Yes, Richard, that's essentially what I did for the one with the couple in it - using Trey Ratcliffe's tutorial. It was certainly a challenge! :D

PSCS4 Extend is supposed to deal with things like this for you.

I've seen Jeff Schewe and Martin Evening demo some incredible things using it with multiple shots.

I have that version - looks like I'll have to delve into it a bit further!
