To arrange photos in a gallery, i was wondering if their is something i can do to have them arranged by popularity. I see smug offers - position, caption, date taken ect.
Any tips or maybe a suggestion if it is not already availble.
Thanks,
Mel

I'd like to see this option too.

Andy, I think that users would be much more keen to use the "uservoice" system that you have set up if they saw a tangible result from doing so... As it is, it looks a bit more like where feedback goes to die, at least for "non-pros", than any kind of active feature request / improvement request system.
Pro users are clearly SmugMug's bread & butter and the Uservoice system doesn't provide any kind of "handicap" (to borrow Golf's term) to balance out the requests from the Pro, Power, and Standard users. As an example..
- MacDaddy - by most standards, completely wonky software. Very little attention paid to it.
- iPhoto export tool - Has been completely ignored for over a year... Think of another application you own which has had zero updates in more than 12 months... how good is it?
- iPhone app - again, compared to peer apps such as the Flickr app, terrible.
How many of these would Pro users use or even care about? I would guess a very small minority.
Now, when going through the UserVoice "Completed" list... how many apply ONLY to Pro users or are things that Pro users would care much more about than the vast majority of Power/Std users?
- Coupons
- Sales
- Gallery name in pro sales CSV file
- SEO improvements
- google image search visibility
- email address lost in comment
Additionally, there would seem to be over 22 screens (> 400 requests) but only 37 completed requests so far, some of which were not actually "completed" but were just issues that didn't actually exist.
I think that most users that are disgruntled occasionally, including myself, have this feeling because they see SmugMug as the best photo site on the web... but with some puzzling decisions being made at the helm with regard to (the lack of) companion tool investment, issue resolution, and sometimes customer service knowledge. (Like one of the the other dgrin commenters, I have experienced the 10 email back & forth for an answer that should have taken just 1).
I continue to be optimistic about SmugMug... but as I continue to use the available tools to get my photos to SmugMug I begin to lose a bit of hope... SmugMug is not a TRAC project... it isn't open source... it isn't "community run" - It is a business with a lot of paying customers. Please pay someone to build better tools to upload photos & videos to your wonderful infrastructure.
Eric
We've made the following in the last 12 months, that have been for ALL users
new cards (08 and 09), Facebook connect, Big Speed Boost, new galley style Slideshow, Thumbnails Style, Journal Style, UTF-8 Support across the site, new SmugMug-developed speedy inbrowser uploader, Easy Customizer (Power and pro), pay with Amazon Subscriptions, SMUGs user groups, BeSocial (facebook, twitter integrations), Show Off (badges, slideshow), Nicenames & SEO Improvements, New Homepage boxes (single image/video, slideshow, recent photos), Animoto support, New Bulk gallery settings tool, feed optouts and more.
Uservoice helps us prioritize though, in fact, we used it just the other day to make sure we were on track with a few things.
I'd love to see us improve the things you mentioned, MacDaddy and Iphoto support.

I know. This is the problem. You guys need to take responsibility for these vehicles to your infrastructure. It would be different if you had the official tools, but allowed 3rd party developers to create tools with your API... but there are no official tools. If 3rd party developers don't provide something... there's nothing.
This really puzzles me... from a business perspective (customer satisfaction, retention, usability, etc).
Thanks for your candid replies. I really appreciate it Andy. I can't believe you are responding on Christmas!

Ah, ok well I stand corrected on that one. I thought that it was also a 3rd party app.
