Took a little drive up the Angeles Crest Hwy. It has been closed for several months due to the damage from the largest fire in Los Angeles County that damages this highway.

Upto about 5000 feet or so, the fires required the roads to be repaved, which is so smooth. Like driving on velvet. Most of the large pine trees are all burned and the scenery looks like some war site where a nuclear bomb went off. But life perseveres and you can see small branches and cacti growing. Above 5000 feet or so, the road was old and there was snow and the forest looks untouched.

Funny thing about living in LA is that at the base, it was about 66 degrees and at the peak it's 39 degrees and my car's ice warning goes off. About a 30 degrees drop in temp in one hour of driving.

1. Stopping for a quick shot.

2. Says ICY, but it was snow.

3. See, plenty of trees left.
