Ok, so I don't use the OMG acronymn AT ALL....but I think this warrants it:

SOOOO, mother in law got me a brand new muslin white backdrop for christmas, (yay!)

my husband and I went to his grandmothers house for christmas and I told my side of the family to meet me at my house so we could do our thing later that evening. I left a key so they could just come in and get everything ready, and I headed out the door. I came home and everyone was here already, no biggie.... We all ate and hung out... a couple hours go by, and we were at the kitchen table playing Apples to Apples and drinking some beers, all of a sudden I looked at the table and thought, "where did this white tablecloth come from?" Then it hit me....IT WAS MY BACKDROP!!!! HOLY F'N SHIT!!!! we were eating and drinking all night with my brand new muslin backdrop as a tablecloth! I had gotten it out earlier and hung it on the banister upstairs to try and get the wrinkles out, never even thinking while I was gone that they would have thought it was a table cloth! Well, there were some spots on it, so I threw it in the wash with cold water....the stains didn't come out all the way. F'n sucks! There are only a few tiny spots towards the top but still...GGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!

Just needed to vent, but on a slightly happier note, I got a 60mm micro lens from the Hubby for Christmas, and I love it! :lust:clap

Hope everyone had a great holiday!

    AAaaaaaaarrrrrrrggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Try Oxyclean, either the kind the goes in the machine, or one of the spray pens. It may do the trick. (or if it's bright marks, maybe a Tide Pen would eat them?)

Oh me oh my. You win the Photographic Christmas Story I think!

    Bummer!

I wonder if this may be of help…

    Removing stains (Wil's Mom's Method):

Soak stained area with milk; leave a while until milk goes sour; wash, rinse, repeat as necessary…

    Relatives. Whatayagonnado?

Do the spots go all the way through? Is it a reversible backdrop? I'm not familiar with muslins.

    You can't pick your relatives...
I know it's hard...but don't blame your family. I'll bet none of them even know what a backdrop is. I second the Oxyclean idea.

Hey Melissa, here's what you do - tell your family (nicely of course) what happened, and then explain that the ONLY way you'll ever be able to use it is to shoot with very WIDE APERTURE glass so that any marks blur. Then persuade them to buy you a nice, expensive 1.2 or 1.4 prime to do the job :D:D:D:D:D:D:D :hide :giggle

    Thanks for the advice everyone!

Diva- oxyclean or tide pen...hmmm, didn't think of that! I think i'm going to grab some today and try it! And ha, I wish I could use that line on them, i think they best they'd offer is a white sheet rolleyes1.gif

    If the oxyclean doesn't work i'll try Wil's Mom's method..sounds intersting!

Captain- nah, I don't blame them, how would they have known? Just frustrating!

Art- not sure what you mean? I think it's a rod pocket at the top.

Anyway it's really about 3 tiny spots toward the top, can't imagine they would be visible but I'll defintately try the suggestions. Thanks!

I have to admit that I laughed a bit when I read your first post. Not laughing at your bad luck, of course...it just read like a comedy scene. rolleyes1.gif

Give the Oxyclean a shot. I've had luck with it in the past...let the fabric soak in as hot of water/Oxyclean as possible with the material (I've never used a backdrop and am not sure what it will tolerate as far as heat). If you soak it for a few hours in the hot solution prior to washing, that just may do it.

    Good luck!
