I have looked at this..Quantum Instruments Turbo Sc Battery Pack..

They all are priced similarly. However, they each have a different way of loading and locking the battery compartment, as well as different configurations for the battery compartment.

I was hoping to get some input regarding these different units that are out there, and which unit may be the most robust, durable and easiest to use. I am most interested in getting input on the different battery compartments and which loading and locking system will be sturdiest and most durable. Thanks.

Both the Quantum Turbo and the Jacobs Black Box units are reliable and durable. I suspect you won't have any issues with connections from either in any normal use. If you use these in a wedding environment and you have a lot of bookings then you could figure going through a set of cables every other year or so and you just have to check the flash and battery connectors constantly. Depending on your technique the strain on all points of connection can be rather high.

I do think that many photographers have switched to higher ISOs on the newer digital cameras and that has reduced the need for external battery packs as power consumption is much less. Some photographers use multiple flash at reduced power, partly to avoid using external batteries.
