Yesterday it was a beautiful day out so I took my kids to the park. I shot this pic of my son. I think it came out okay, but i think he's underexposed. How do I meter this to get the sky and him in the right exposure? Any suggestions? If i had my flash would it have worked?

TIA

If it looks a little blurry it's only because I had to upload it to flickr from another site because I am at work and forgot to bring the original file.

In my experience, flash is needed to keep the sky at the correct exposure and not underexpose your subject. You can also use a strategically placed reflector.
