First-time photo-walk around Austin. I think this is only the second time I've just walked and shot, and first time as part of a group. Dgrinners really are the nicest folks. Alas, I'm a schmuck and didn't take a group photo.... Here are some of the better (IMO) fruits of my labors. C&C very much welcome and appreciated. Rest of the gallery is here:SmugMug Gallery Daylight shots were with the 24-105 f/4L and the neon was with the 50 f/1.2L.

    Howdy Andrew,

Looks like a wonderful walk, really love all the small details you've

captured and the lighting and colors.

I remember seeing some of the shots from a little trip to Austin several

years ago, especially the spiral steps, in the Capitol?
    Take care,

Thanks for looking, and for the feedback, Craig. Yeah, those are up in the top of the dome (I'm doubtful anyone is actually allowed up there w/o a darn good reason). You never see it from the ground floor, and this was the first time I shlepped up to the third tier, so I had never noticed them before. We had 9 folks at the start and dwindled to 3 as the night wore on. It was a great day.

Randy & Devin, thanks for checking in and the feedback. That building is the Dept. of Highway and Transportation and that RR Xing sign is on the side of the building by the 'Smoking Patio'. I just happened to notice it cutting across the parking lot on the way back to my car. I also tweaked the rotation on the Capitol image and fixed the color cast the inserted itself along the way on the first one...

Good series, Andrew! It's nice to see the results after seeing the shots in action. I was very impressed with your lighting gear and knowledge and the results show both. Thanks for the tips you gave along the way.

I like #5 a lot also. It's fun to see what we each came up with that is different from each other. But it was really funny to see how many of us shot the same things when we were on the street walk--especially the "nude" show flyer. rolleyes1.gif

I would love to come back up there and do this again soon!

I love #2 - I might suggest a slightly tighter crop for my liking.

I like the entire set - looks like fun was had by all.

That could work as well. My only problem with going too tight, is that I wasn't dead center to the image, so the arcs are not symmetric. As in:

I see what you mean there - either way could work I think.

    Anyways - lovely shots!
