Can You ID These Two?

These were shot in Gilbert AZ at the riparian preserve. Not being a real birder, I have no idea what they are. Thanks for your help.

    The second one looks like a House Sparrow to me.

    That first one is a very common desert bird out this way. I should know what it is, but I don't. Bad kdog. :whip

    The first one is a Common Grackle, although there is nothing common about that one. They're usually jet black but every once in a while you get these brown ones. Black Grackles are quite common but "leucistic" (light-colored) ones are rare.

    You know, I thought it might be a grackle, as there are many of them at this preserve. None were this color however. "Leucistic"; learned a new word too.rolleyes1.gif
