Can't view photos

I am totally lost here. I am not able to view the actual photos on the gallery pages. No errors or anything, just like the photos aren't there. I can see everything on the previous pages, and I can see the photos if I use my son's computer. I assume it is a setting somewhere on my system that I need to change, but I can't find anything. Can anyone help me?

    Hi,

My name is Christina and I'm a support hero here at SmugMug.

Usually when you can't view photos on your computer the browser's cache or cookies is to be blamed. Generally clearing the cache and cookies will fix this immediately. If you're not sure how just let us know which operating system and browser you're using and we'll post step-by-step directions. :)

    We're Standing By,
    Christina

that did not help. I can't understand what's going on. I can see photos on the index pages, but not on the actual gallery page...I just want to look at some pictures..is there anything else I can try?

I'm sorry that the usual, easy fix didn't work. Could you please check the following two links:

    #1. http://phyxius.smugmug.com/Other/slideshow/9077027_9ZY8L#528578182_2UHyQ

    #2.
    http://phyxius.smugmug.com/Other/slideshow/9077027_9ZY8L/1/528578182_2UHyQ/Medium

If the photo in #2 shows, but you can't see the photo in #1, it might be
that you have a kind of anti-virus, firewall, ad-blocking or internet
security software that is blocking our javascript. Try to temporarily
disable any such software and see if that allows you to view the photo
    in link #1.

In this case, you would need to add *.smugmug.com to your security
software's list of trusted pages. If you don't know on how to do that,
please let us know what software you are using. Also check the tray area
next to the clock in your taskbar for any running programs and list them
    all to us.

I've had 2 people report similar problems when trying to view my galleries from their computers. Doesn't seem to be tied to IE8 as far as I can tell.

You might try installing the latest version of Adobe Flash. In both cases, that was the last thing I suggested before they stopped asking questions. Not sure that's what fixed it, but in at least one case, they ended up using the photo for their Christmas card, so they eventually were able to download pics.

    Good luck!

it is very rare someone doesn't have flash - < 1% of the time. Glad they are sorted!

    Andy,

I know there are certain operations that can't be done without Flash (getting links for example), but previously it wasn't required to look at photos. Is Flash now a requirement to view SM?

FWIW, the reason I knew about the some-things-work, some-things-don't relative to flash is from using 64-bit Vista. I ended up having to straddle between 2 browsers when using SM:

    * FF so I can use ICC color profiles and see photos correctly in my browser.
    * 32-bit version of IE so I can use the parts of SM written in flash (since Adobe doesn't - or at least didn't - have a 64-bit version).

    Thanks,
    Jay

No, not unless the gallery owner defaults to Slideshow mode, or if the viewer sets the style to Slideshow on their own.
