I had to wait an hour for the moon to rise above the denser low cloud to grab this shot.

That's a killer shot. Tell me that plane is a composition. headscratch.gif

We have clouds that look just like that tonight. Maybe I should get off my lazy butt and take a picture. rolleyes1.gif

Thank you everyone. Believe me, my PP skills are not good enough to pull off a convincing composite with the plane. Here's the un-cropped and un-embelished image (converted from raw to jpg in LR).

The longest lens I have is the 300mm. Using it with the 1.4x extender on a cropped body gives me some decent reach but still not enough without cropping for better impact.

    Happy New Year!

Very nice Cuong. I had crystal clear skies here last night, but I was too lazy to set up the tripod on the balcony. Even though my Canon D350 is short on megaPixels, I love my crop sensor. Time to get the D7!

My shot was actually inspired by a post I saw on dgrin (can't seem to find it now) that showed an airplane silhouetted against a full moon. I know it'd be a challenging effort since I don't have control of the approaching planes and the moon is not a stationary subject. All I wanted to do was to catch the blue moon and I was lucky to get that plane as a bonus.
