received this as part of an office email and thiught it important enough to share with my dGrin friends.

ICE (In Case of Emergency)

This is a good idea.

In emergency situations Paramedics will often turn to a victim's cell phone for clues to that person's identity. You can make their job much easier with a simple idea that they are trying to get everyone to adopt: ICE. ICE stands for In Case of Emergency.

If you add an entry in the contacts list in your cell phone under ICE, with the name and phone no. of the person that the emergency services should call on your behalf, you can save them a lot of time and have your loved ones contacted quickly. It only takes a few moments of your time to do. Paramedics know what ICE means and they look for it immediately. ICE your cell phone NOW!

Please pass this one along!

I don't know what to believe, but I heard this after the London Bombs on 07/07. A week later I was informed that this ICE idea is laying the foundations to spread a virus around the cellular networks ne_nau.gif

Claim: Paramedic advocates cell phone users store emergency contact information in their address books, but such entries leave phones vulnerable to attack.

    Status: Multiple — see below:

    • Paramedic advocates cell phone users store emergency contact information in their address books: True.
    • "ICE" entries in stored in cell phones allow viruses to access those units and drain them of their credits: False.

Thanks, Angelo. I have gotten that info from just about every list I am on: the info to do it.

I never do as told, smile.

If I don't get around to it, I would hope the paramedics would have the sense to call my speed dial numbers. There are only about 5.

Hmm. I'm gonna ask a local EMT about this. In the meantime I would hope the speed dial numbers "mom" and the other one "dad" would give them a clue.ne_nau.gif

I got both of these emailed to me, now I got this one

If you receive a phone call and your mobile phone displays (XALAN) on the screen don't answer the call, END THE CALL IMMEDIATELY.

If you answer the call, your phone will be infected by a virus. This virus will erase all IMEI and IMSI information from both your phone and your SIM card, which will make your phone unable to connect with the telephone network. You will have to buy a new phone.

This information has been confirmed by both Motorola and Nokia. There are over 3 Million mobile phones being infected by this virus in all around the world now. You can also check this news in the CNN web site.

PLEASE FORWARD THIS PIECE OF INFORMATION TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS HAVING A MOBILE

I checked the CNN web site and cannot find anything about a virus, only

    Snopes says it's false.

But can you really trust Snopes? I queried about my love life: it said that was a fraud too. :bluduh

I asked someone about this and its true, started just after the incidents in London apperantly.

That person also suggested that you put your blood type in the memo for ICE and other medical info that is important, like what you are allergic to.

Now if only I had a cell phone, this would be useful to me, hehe. I have one but its 5 years old, pure cellular and no text stuff in it. Plus I havent used it in like 3.5 years.
