Hello SmugMug,

I have trouble uploading (small) PNG files. The log gives me this message for a whole bunch of images that i tried to upload:

device25.png ... /!\ Tried and failed 10 times :( ... 755784746 ... 2010-01-02 17:20:57 PST ... Error

7 out of the 28 png images i tried to upload failed this way. The other 21 did fine and were processed almost immediately.

I tried to upload the failed ones again, but these 7 just won't upload successfully.
I can't grasp the notion of time.

When I hear the earth will melt into the sun,
in two billion years,
all I can think is:
"Will that be on a Monday?"

    Hi Andy,

    It's been a while :)
    Happy New Year.

I used the Java uploader under Windows 7 64 bit, IE 8.
It also failed using the 'no frills' uploader (using old fashioned http-post file-upload).
I can't grasp the notion of time.

Do you use AVG9? if so, turning off the "AVG Active Surf shield" should help.

    Here's how to do that:

if not, then pls please write our Support Heroes and let us help you directly from the help desk. Thanks!

I don't have AVG installed. I used Windows Security Essentials. I wonder if anything is wrong/off with the actual images that failed. The other images uploaded fine.

I just tried again this morning, and the failing images are failing again.

Anton, something wrong with these pngs. Exactly how did you make them? I can't open 'em in Photoshop:

    That's why they won't upload, I'm sure :(

Every image-editing/viewing program i tried could show these pictures correctly. Except for photoshop, i now found out: I just tried it on my machine and photoshop was choking on these 7 images.

I loaded them into Windows Paint and just did a 'Save' to re-save them without any changes. This allowed them to be shown in Photoshop as well.

These images were generated by the Screenshot facility of the Android plugin under Eclipse.

OK - well, that's the culprit, some sort of non-standard thing in the file, but I'm not sure what. I couldn't open 'em in PS.
