Keep captions while replacing the image

Hi

i upload an image and edit the caption. When i upload the same image again (same filename) the caption has gone.

This is a common scenario when changing meta data or doing some image adjustments for instance.

Therefore i guess this is a bug rather than a feature?

It is very likely that the new file exif data is clearing the existing data. I will take a look and let the programmers know if it is a bug. I know that we are looking into this for some other situations so it may be that we have a change planned already.

changing meta data was just an example.

In my case i even only changed the image a bit (placed some text over the image) to test caption behavior.

Maex, but you are still replacing the photo. That is what is causing the problem. I will take a look.

It is a known issue. I just found the bug in our reporter. The programmer is familiar with it and is planning a fix.
