I didn't want to put this under the Macro section because it's not a macro shot. I shot this with my 20D & 50mm f/1.8. I used a simple light to the left of the flower and a plain black background.

    I take a lot of flower pictures and the first thing that caught my eye, unfortunately not the full flower, was the dying one right lower quadrant and the not-yet-open bud left upper quadrant.
    Also, IMO it is a bit underexposed. It also suffers for single lighting without reflector allowing the right side to blend into the black background.
