Thoughts? I'm very interested in what everyone thinks of the image and then the titling of the image as "Night at the Ballet".

I like the idea, but it's a bit soft for my own tastes. I'd like to see a different surface. Perhaps a wood floor to add some textural contrast.

Great idea. The image seems a little flat to me though.

So I tried reshooting this on a wood floor tonight and unfortunately the tone of the shoes was very close to the tone of the floor. As a result, none of the shots from the reshoot worked well in my opinion. I went back in and did some more processing on my original entry to try and remove the flatness and add more textural contrast.

I'd appreciate thoughts on either of these.

I like the new processing - I'm a fan of grainy diffusion in general, and especially for a shot like this.

How does it look in BW? Satin pointe shoes often lend themselves to bw and for some reason.....

but Im distracted with the crooked black space line in the BG
(pull out your cloning tool and get rid of it)

if I have to pick one I would go with #2

yes
i like your shot a lot. i like the color better than the b+w. the color is subtle. maybe you could even try a sepia tone. i like the soft focus, but i think i'd like to see it with more focus in the center on the main subject, with the same soft focus around it.
more post-processing to bring out that grainy moodiness might yield some interesting results.
